About Gamechanger
Archie Workman has a passion and personal interest for helping individuals; companies and organisations – to change their game.
Born in Irvine in 1950, like many famous Scots, Archie left his beloved homeland to seek fame and fortune in the marine engineering world, just like his Great Great Grandfather, who went to Russia to teach them how to build ships.
Archie ended up on the River Tyne in Wallsend, teaching them how to build huge diesel engines that powered famous SD14 ships, as purchased by leading shipowners such as Egon Oldendorff
He was headhunted to join their builder – Austin & Pickersgill, in Sunderland, as their Sea Trials Engineer, ending up on British Shipbuilders “High Fliers” list at the age of 32.
He travelled the world representing the company at guarantee dry dockings as an accomplished technical & commercial manager and then joined a major ship-repairing group on the Tyne where he was asked to learn Russian and also sent to St Petersburg (just like Great Great Grandfather) helping to find peaceful uses for Russian spy vessels including the famous “Vladimir Komorov”
Since working as a senior executive for various regional development agencies in the North of England, it has taken Archie 20 years of strategic vision in business development to understand that he is a “Gamechanger”.
He possesses an inordinate amount of lateral thinking, unique ideas and remarkable skills in networking.
John Grainger – Managing Director of Invest in Cumbria recently said of Archie: “I have never known anybody think the way you do”
His procurement background and subsequent specialist training in supply chain development has also given Archie an intricate and intimate knowledge of inside countless companies in the North of England and he works a vast network of confidential contacts which he uses to change people’s games.
There are very few people in the UK like him!
He has been seconded to various major well known companies and to small and medium enterprises (SME’s) in trouble as an interim manager and achieved notable successes, often saving companies from closure and creating substantial new business and employment opportunities.
Margaret Thatcher once said “I cannot manage the past, there are people in my Government to manage the present, it is my unique responsibility to shine a spotlight on the future”
Archie shares her responsibility……
Details of company formation
Gamechanger is an innovative new consultancy dedicated to exploring the future visions of people, businesses and technology that will alter the road map of their career, company and commerce in years to come.
Our “client briefings” challenge you and your staff to think about the future of your business and discuss what role you want The Gamechanger to help you.
In life, everybody plays a game
In business, every owner, employee, plays a game
Every business plays a game . . . but in today’s fast moving global economy, not many people have the time to change their game.
“Every thought of yours is a real thing – a force” - Prentice Mulford (1834 – 1891)
“Predicting the future is pretty hard, especially if it is about the future” a quote by the American ball player Yogi Berra.
This is especially true, if you do not have the time to do it yourself, and are deeply involved in the daily operation of your company or organisation.
Mentoring local & global
Archie actively seeks young “Gamechangers” who would like to learn the techniques of how to network business opportunities to their advantage and join the company.
He is especially keen to work with young local entrepreneurs who have taken their idea to the limit, or who just want a Mentor to take them to the next level.
Gamechanger has had considerable experience in working on inward investment and aftercare of Chinese, Indian and Eastern European owned companies and understands how to “Dance with Giants”, Archie understands the key factors, which influence Chinese, Indian, Polish and Russian business decisions and welcomes invitations to work with entrepreneurs who seek joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, technology transfers and partnerships that will bring commercial opportunity and create employment.
Understanding what support companies need today rather than what is available - is valuable to the business support infrastructure in the UK.
Gamechanger works as an interface with these organisations helping them to transform, re-configure, contribute, and raise their technical excellence, to lower costs or innovatively increase design and delivery of the company’s performance.
Collaboration and idea sharing helps to build existing ideas into more powerful solutions.
Archie has designed an idea management system that involves a series of questions to every employee of the company.
As innovation grows in importance as a competitive advantage, idea management is poised to become the new catalyst that can help you compete at levels never though possible.
Gamechanger delivers “advocacy” which is a story as old as innovation itself.
“Change is evolutionary, not revolutionary”
